Eisley - Currents

Here's the haunting first video off of Eisley's latest album Currents. I just love those harmonies swirling all around. Some day I'll finally get a chance to see them live and it will be amazing.

Kevin Devine - Bubblegum

Kevin Devine's latest album Bubblegum came out last week (oops, I missed that one...I'll have to pick it up later this week). If the rest of the album sounds as kick ass as the title track, indie ROCK fans are in for a serious album of the year contender by a great musician who has been unfairly under the radar for far too long.

The Dead Milkmen - Smokin' Banana Peels

I suppose Smokin' Banana Peels by The Dead Milkmen brings a whole new meaning to Friday Flashback here at Your New Favorite Song...yeah, I'm so not proud of that one. Enjoy and be safe!

Tim McGraw feat. Taylor Swift and Keith Urban - Highway Don't Care

There were very few surprise winners at last night's CMA Awards. The only one that truly shocked me was Luke Bryan losing Entertainer of the Year to the "retiring" George Strait (Blake Shelton winning Album of the Year was a distant second). The winners for Video of the Year and Musical Event of the Year were certainly not a surprise -- here's Tim, Taylor and Keith with one of my favorite songs/videos of 2013.

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts - Any Weather

I was pretty bummed that I missed The Shindig festival in Baltimore this summer. The timing just didn't work out for me and I had to give up my tickets. Among the many artists that I would have loved to see that day was Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. I've seen her play quite a few times over the years and it's always a rockin' good time. I finally picked up her latest album Unvarnished and I look forward to giving it a spin when I get a chance. Here's the video for Unvarnished's first single Any Weather. As expected, the song's pretty badass. Check it out.

The Avett Brothers - Another is Waiting

Yikes. Has it really been 11 days since I last posted here? Sorry about that. I'm sure it'll happen again and again and again...

The Avett Brothers released their 8,000th album a few weeks ago which is quite impressive seeing that they've only been playing together for 13 years. I've yet to pick up Magpie and the Dandelion because I've had some other new release priorities, but I'm sure I'll be listening to it as soon as AmazonMP3 includes it in one of their MP3 deals that they run all the time. So far, I've only heard the album's first single and I'm digging it, but then again, I typically prefer their more uptempo songs.
