Sponge - Molly & Plowed

File this one as another band that SHOULD have been frekin' huge. Rotting Pinata by Sponge is one of the finest albums of the era. I could still listen to this album every day and not get sick of it. Not quite sure why their other albums didn't "stick" and I'm thinking I may have to delve into my collection and rediscover them as well. For now though, here's the "two songs everybody knows, but probably has no idea who sings 'em." Enjoy!

The Lemonheads - It's a Shame About Ray & Luka

From the first time I heard The Lemonheads' breakthrough record "It's A Shame About Ray," I knew I had a favorite band for life...and I was right. While I never got to see the Lemonheads live, I have had the pleasure of seeing Evan Dando blow through a score of Lemonheads' hits at a solo show. Sadly, the majority of their videos aren't unable to be embedded (god forbid we promote your artists...stupid record labels)...I did find a couple to post (you can view more Lemonheads' videos on YouTube and I suggest you do). Enjoy!

L7 - Pretend We're Dead & Andres

I don't believe in first impressions when it comes to music. If so, I never would have become an L7 fan. I hated Pretend We're Dead (and the band for that matter) the first time I heard it. Once again, I'll admit it, I can be kind of dumb. Thankfully, I got over it pretty quickly. Enjoy!

Fuzzy - Flashlight

While I prefer Fuzzy's second album Electric Juices, their self-titled debut brought the fuzzed out power pop goodness. Enjoy!

Whale - Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe

OK, admission time. I've had this Whale CD since it came out. I don't think I've ever listened to the entire thing. Hard to move on after the epicness of this track (in song and title). Enjoy!

Belly - Feed the Tree

I've been on the Tanya Donelly bandwagon forever. From the Throwing Muses, to her stint with the Breeders, to the hitmaking years with her band Belly and most recently as a solo artist. I can't get enough of of that sweet voice. Here's the big hit song. Enjoy!

Dinosaur Jr. - The Wagon

While most fans prefer their early SST albums, Green Mind will always be my favorite Dinosaur Jr. album. Here are two of my favorite tracks off the album (Thumb might be my favorite tune by them). Enjoy!

The Wonder Stuff - Size of a Cow

I can't imagine anyone hating The Wonder Stuff. Their Never Loved Elvis album is one of my favorites of the era. Truly great pop music. Enjoy!

Semisonic - Singing in My Sleep

While Semisonic is mostly known for their big hit Closing Time, they were more than that one song (which incidentally was about singer Dan Wilson becoming a new dad, and not a bar). Wilson is master at crafting perfect pop songs and here's one of my favorites. Enjoy!

Porno for Pyros - Pets

Porno for Pyros came along with a lot of hype (and for good reason), but fizzled out after a somewhat disappointing second album (I actually grew to enjoy it as much as the first). Here's the big hit. Enjoy!
