Another true confession: I still rock my KMFDM "Money" shirt that I had in college. In fact I'm wearing it right now, which I suppose is my inspiration for posting KMFDM videos. Enjoy!

Paul Westerberg - Dyslexic Heart
American rock music would be really boring without Paul Westerberg (and of course The Replacements). Here's his hit from the legendary Singles Soundtrack. Enjoy!

Pure - Blast
Wow, even I forgot how much fun this tune is by Pure. Glad I stumbled upon the radio promo of this tune recently. Power pop goodness. Enjoy!

Live - Operation Spirit and Pain Lies on the Riverside
OK, Live is hardly a forgotten band especially when modern rock radio still plays their uberhits I Alone and Lightning Crashes all the time. BUT, I rarely hear the two tracks that hooked me (and still sound exciting all of these years later) off of their first album Mental Jewelry. Enjoy!

Lush - Ladykillers, De Luxe, Sweetness and Light
I wish Lush was still making music. They are easily one of my top 5 most missed bands of the 90s. Here are a few favorites starting with the driving pop of Ladykillers from their last album to their more ethereal beginnings with De Luxe and Sweetness and Light. Enjoy!

The Lemonheads - It's a Shame About Ray & Luka
From the first time I heard The Lemonheads' breakthrough record "It's A Shame About Ray," I knew I had a favorite band for life...and I was right. While I never got to see the Lemonheads live, I have had the pleasure of seeing Evan Dando blow through a score of Lemonheads' hits at a solo show. Sadly, the majority of their videos aren't unable to be embedded (god forbid we promote your artists...stupid record labels)...I did find a couple to post (you can view more Lemonheads' videos on YouTube and I suggest you do). Enjoy!

L7 - Pretend We're Dead & Andres
I don't believe in first impressions when it comes to music. If so, I never would have become an L7 fan. I hated Pretend We're Dead (and the band for that matter) the first time I heard it. Once again, I'll admit it, I can be kind of dumb. Thankfully, I got over it pretty quickly. Enjoy!

Beck - Beercan & Devil's Haircut
I once saw Beck perform twice (one regular set and one acoustic set) on a perfect sunny day. Needless to say it was a very good day. So, I thought I'd spread the love with y'all on a sunny day (well for me at least). Enjoy!

Redd Kross - Yesterday Once More and Annie's Gone
Way back when I DJed in college there was one Redd Kross disc in the studio. It was one of the few discs in the station that I would actually play (it was at the time a mostly classic rock station so us alt DJs had to bring their own tunes). Still kick myself for not stealing it when I graduated. :) Anyway, we'll start with their Carpenters cover (off of one of the best tribute albums ever "If I were a Carptenter"...which is the sole reason I always nail Superstar in piano bars w/o sheet music...LOL) and then a track from their Third Eye album. Enjoy!

Kitchens of Distinction - Drive That Fast & Quick As Rainbows
The Kitchens of Distinction were always one of those bands I'd hear on the radio or on 120 Minutes and think, "not bad, who is that again?" To this day, I still don't own any of their cds. May have to remedy that at some point. Enjoy!

Sarah McLachlan - Into the Fire, Hold On, Possession
In celebration of Sarah McLachlan's first studio album in almost 7 years (and the return of Lilith Fair), I thought I would share a few favorites of mine. Enjoy!

Fuzzy - Flashlight
While I prefer Fuzzy's second album Electric Juices, their self-titled debut brought the fuzzed out power pop goodness. Enjoy!

Tracy Bonham - Mother Mother & Sharks Can't Sleep
The Burdens of Being Upright by Tracy Bonham was and still is a killer record. Saw her on that tour and again almost 10 years later. I think the only thing that changed was that we were both 10 years older. And, hopefully, I'll get to see her again soon as her new album drops on June 13th. Enjoy!

Buffalo Tom - Taillights Fade and I'm Allowed
Back in the day I kind of took Buffalo Tom for granted. Always knew who they were and even knew their music, but it wasn't something I would grab out of a stack of tapes or cds and rock out to. My loss. Very underrated and I'm happy I've rediscovered them in the last few years. Enjoy!

Jawbox - Savory
I can admit to being wrong. I used to be kind of lukewarm when it came to Jawbox. In fact, in college I traded my copy of Grippe (on tape) for The Damned's horrible Phantasmagoria tape. Go figure that Jawbox clicked for me with their major label debut For Your Own Special Sweetheart. I've since rediscovered the awesomeness of Jawbox's early Dischord albums and I suggest you do too. Enjoy!

The Refused - New Noise
Keeping up with my rockin' out theme this week brings us to one of Sweden's finest -- The Refused. Seriously changed the face of hardcore. So in honor of today's remaster release of the legendary The Shape of Punk to Come, I bring you New Noise. Enjoy!

Rocket From The Crypt - On A Rope & Born in '69
Something tells me this is going to be a rockin' week here at YFF (well at least the first half of the week). Let's blast off with San Diego's Rocket From The Crypt with On a Rope and Born in '69, both from their Scream, Dracula, Scream! disc (gotta love the punctuation). Enjoy!

Front 242 - Tragedy for You
I like Front 242...but I'll also be the first to admit that most of their music is horribly dated sounding today. Such is the life of a music junkie. Still, it's always kind of fun to go back and relive...hey isn't that the point of this here blog? Enjoy!

Millencolin - Story of My Life
I was a total and complete sucker for ska punk. Still am. Millencolin were one of the better bands of the era. Enjoy!

Whale - Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe
OK, admission time. I've had this Whale CD since it came out. I don't think I've ever listened to the entire thing. Hard to move on after the epicness of this track (in song and title). Enjoy!
