The Decemberists - O Valencia!

OK Scott, time to make up for posting Miley Cyrus today at Wicked Guilty Pleasures...

Over the past 10 years I have come to realize that The Decemberists are easily my favorite rock band. I could go on and on about the smart songwriting, great records and sublime concerts, but if you know The Decemberists, you already know. Here's one of my favorite tracks that is not named The Crane Wife 3. Enjoy!

Katie Melua - Nine Million Bicycles and Just Like Heaven

I was blown away by Katie Melua the first time I heard her on the radio. Her voice simply captivated me and I've been a fan ever since. I was lucky to see her perform at my town's under 300 seat venue on her Pictures tour a few years ago...AMAZING SHOW! So here's a couple videos off her Piece By Piece record. Enjoy!

Rancid - Red Hot Moon

So like last Monday, I have decided to present the good and bad side of a band/artist I love (YFF2K of course gets the good side). This is definitely one of the great Rancid tracks from 2003's Indestructible. Be sure to head on over to Wicked Guilty Pleasures today for Rancid's not so good side. Enjoy!

Charlotte Sometimes - How I Could Just Kill A Man

On Superbowl Sunday I decided to check out The Voice for the first time. I'm so glad I did as I'm now hooked. Just before the second episode Charlotte Sometimes announced on her Twitter page that she had auditioned and to look for her on the show soon. Anyway, her audition (she did a One Republic song) was shown this past Monday. All four judges "turned their chairs" for her and she chose to be on Team Blake (YAY!!!). Obviously, I was a fan of her music before the appearance on The Voice (as I said, I was already following her on Twitter), as her Waves and the Both of Us record was one of my favorites of 2008. Here's the single. Enjoy!

Converge - Axe To Fall

OK, so I'm a day off with Punk/Hardcore/Metal Monday. I think we'll get over it pretty quickly because we have a killer metalcore tune by Converge today. Enjoy!

Jewel - I Do

OK, I know Monday's are typically punk/hardcore/metal day (we'll do it tomorrow), but the good looking guy with the most popular post in the history of Wicked Guilty Pleasures suggested to me yesterday that we should both do a tribute to Jewel. And who am I to argue with myself? Anyway, I wanted to post Standing Still (which is one of my favorite Jewel songs) but I couldn't (same old "embedding not available" story). This video will do though as it was her country album (Perfectly Clear) that got me back into Jewel after her out of place pop record (0304) which is covered today at Wicked Guilty Pleasures. So, after you watch this video, be sure to go to Wicked Guilty Pleasures and check out Jewel's pop side. Enjoy!

Mike Doughty - Looking at the World from the Bottom of a Well

It's Friday Funday. Let's have some fun and watch this classic Mike Doughty video from his Haughty Melodic cd. Enjoy!!!

Note: YFF2K is taking next week off. Your host needs to reboot his brain (or cloud it with lots of frozen run drinks)...Get your video action at Wicked Guilty Pleasures. The link's on this page somewhere...find it and watch without shame!

Julie Roberts - Break Down Here

It's Country Thursday here at Your Forgotten Favorite 2000. Since I'm seeing Julie Roberts this Saturday, I thought it'd be a good time to post one of her videos. This was the big single from her debut record. Enjoy!

Holly Golightly - On The Fire

Just realized I haven't listened to Holly Golightly in a while. Going to have to change that. Here's the lead track off of her fantastic Slowly But Surely record. Enjoy!

The Raveonettes - Attack of the Ghost Riders

I bought The Raveonettes Whip It On ep when it came out based on the cover art (yes, I judge records and books by their cover). It just looked like it would be cool and garagy (which was all the rage in 2002). Of course I was right (duh) and I've been a fan ever since. Here's the track that hooked me. Enjoy!

Thrice - Stare At The Sun

Here's a Thrice video from their classic album The Artist in the Ambulance to kick off your Punk/Metal Monday. Enjoy!

Old 97's - Dance With Me

It's Country Thursday here at Your Forgotten Favorite 2000 (another new feature to keep me on track, along with Punk Mondays and Friday Funday). We're going to get this started with one of my favorite bands -- the Old 97's. Here's one of my favorite tracks (and a pretty damn funny video to boot). Enjoy!

Me and Rhett Miller at the Ram's Head On Stage in 2010.
