Squirrel Nut Zippers - Put A Lid On It

Seeing that the temperature is hitting the 90s and my AC is busted yet again, I wanted to post the video for Hell by the Squirrel Nut Zippers. Alas, the label/YouTube have blocked that classic tune. So here's another lesser known video from the same record (go figure). Enjoy!

Squirtgun - Mary Ann

Raise your hands if you first heard Squirtgun on the soundtrack to Mallrats. OK, put your friggin' hands down, I can't see you. Sheesh. Anyway, I couldn't find the video for Social, so we'll have to settle for something off of their Another Sunny Afternoon disc. Enjoy!

Lagwagon - Razor Burn

How have I posted over 270 videos and not one by Lagwagon? My bad. Here's a classic off of their Hoss album. All is forgiven (I'm sure). Enjoy!

Goldfinger - Superman

OK, I'll admit it, the first time I heard today's song by Goldfinger was while I was playing one of the old Tony Hawk Pro Skater games (still my favorite video game series ever). Enjoy!

Ash - Goldfinger

I didn't really give Ash a shot when they broke. It was nothing personal. I guess they were just off my radar at the time. It wasn't only until about two years ago that I "discovered" them. I'm glad I did. Here's one of their more Britpoppy songs (believe it or not some of their songs have metal and punk tinges to them). Enjoy!

Beat Happening - Tiger Trap

OK, so I was actually looking for a Tiger Trap video to post today. I couldn't find one, but I did stumble across this Beat Happening classic. Enjoy!

Morphine - Early To Bed

I miss Morphine. Such a cool band. Here's a classic track off of their Like Swimming album. Enjoy!

Violent Femmes - Used to Be

I must admit that the first time I saw the Violent Femmes live it was purely because they were opening for the Throwing Muses. They started to grow on me that night as they were debuting songs from their Why Do Birds Sing CD. Of course, as the years went on my fandom grew as I saw them a few more times and devoured their extensive catalog of hit-filled records (particularly that first record). Here's a little ditty off that WDBS disc. Enjoy!

Talk Show - Hello Hello

I initially hated the Stone Temple Pilots. But by their second album I reconsidered my stance and became a fan. So when word came out in 1997 that the band was going to make a record as Talk Show without their iconic singer (who was busy working on a solo album and a legendary substance abuse problem), I was skeptical. But then I heard the first single and bought in. Here it is. Enjoy!

Gigolo Aunts - Where I Find My Heaven

It shocks me sometimes how some bands blow up while others stay in relative obscurity. I always thought the Gigolo Aunts would fall into the blow-up side. It happens though. Anyway, here's a track off of their Flippin' Out CD. Enjoy!

Deftones - 7 Words

In 1995, I was lucky enough to con my college radio station into sending me to the CMJ Music Conference. Basically, it was a three-day orgy of live music, cheap beer and freebies. Among the freebies was a comp that featured this Deftones tune which still kicks my butt when I hear it all of these years later. FYI (NSFW...lyrics...you have been warned) Enjoy!

Small - Vega and Boston

During my college years Small (aka Small 23) were easily one of my favorite indie rock bands. True Zero Hook, among their other albums, is just one of those classic records that still sounds vital today. Here's the lead track off their Silver Gleaming Death Machine disc. Enjoy!
