The Muffs - Oh Nina

When I first heard The Muffs in college I was a bit baffled. Wasn't quite sure what I was hearing and I kind of blew it off. It didn't last long though as Lucky Guy in particular, and The Muffs in general, became a mainstay in my personal soundtrack (and still is 18 years later). While my favorite Muffs videos won't embed (Lucky Guy and Sad Tomorrow), I was able to find this gem off their second record. Enjoy!

Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees

So, Radiohead has another album coming out (tomorrow actually). While I pretty much stopped listening to them after OK Computer, I still respect what they do and remain a big fan of their first three albums (for the record I have listened to all of the albums, they just didn't do much for me). So, bygones be bygones, here's one of my favorite Radiohead tracks. Enjoy!

The Cranes - Everywhere

I saw The Cranes open for The Cure in the summer of 91. It took a few years, but I eventually became a fan. I even have Forever, the album that today's song is from on vinyl (along with a pretty cool bonus ep that came with it). Enjoy!

Sebadoh - Rebound

Bakesale by Sebadoh is not only one of my favorite indie rock albums of the 90s, but possibly of all time. Here's a Loobie classic. Enjoy!

Walt Mink - Shine

To be honest, I didn't spend a lot of time listening to Walt Mink back in the 90s. It's not that I didn't like them though as I saw them play a couple times. I'm actually surprised I didn't listen to them more seeing as they had that early Smashing Pumpkins' psychedelic sound. Here's one of their more known songs (video was directed by Sofia Coppola). Enjoy!

Alkaline Trio - Goodbye Forever

Kicking off another week here at Your Forgotten Favorite with a video from one of my favorite bands - Alkaline Trio. Enjoy!

Bloodhound Gang - The Bad Touch

It's Friday Fun Day! So here's a Bloodhound Gang video and tune with absolutely no redeeming qualities (although it is a pretty funny way to start out the weekend). Enjoy!

Rollins Band - Low Self Opinion

To be honest, when this Rollins Band song came out, I knew very little about Henry Rollins. All I knew was that this song completely leveled me. Of course I was soon clued into Black Flag (a band that still amazes me all of these years later) and his many books. So here's the song that started an almost 20-year addiction. Enjoy!

Pavement - Stereo

How has it taken me over a year to feature one of my favorite indie rock bands? Pavement IS indie rock and one of the main reasons why I dis on so many "indie" bands today who have no stones or style. It was awesome seeing them again last summer at the Virgin Free Fest (first time I'd seen them in about 15 years). Anyway, here's the song that asks one of the most important questions evahhhh. Enjoy!

H2O - One Life, One Chance

It's hard to imagine NY hardcore without H2O. Here's a track off of their F.T.T.W. record. Enjoy!

Dropkick Murphys - Bar Room Hero

It's Friday. Let's celebrate with the Dropkick Murphys! Enjoy!

Eels - Novocaine for the Soul

I almost wrote off the Eels as some sort of a Flaming Lips rip-off. I'm glad I reconsidered. Their last few albums were pretty awesome. As always, here's the song that everyone knows. Enjoy!

Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy - Television the Drug of the Nation

I'm not sure if there is a genre called "industrial rap," (to be honest, I don't feel like looking it up, nor do I care to find out), but if there is, Michael Franti's Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy would be one of the pioneers. Here's a classic track off the Hypocrisy Is the Greatest Luxury disc. Enjoy!

Billy Bragg (with Natalie Merchant) - Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key

I have been a HUGE Billy Bragg fan since high school. I finally got to see him perform in 1996 (oddly enough, opening for The Barenaked Ladies...I left early). Well, today I got two front row center tickets to see him in my town in June. SCORE!!!! Anyway, I couldn't find the Sexuality video (I know it exists, just can't find it), so here's one of my favorite tracks off Billy's two albums with Wilco. Enjoy!
