Uncle Tupelo - Whiskey Bottle (live)

Well, it's the last day of Post-a-Live-Video-to-Compensate-for-Stupid-Major-Label-Record-Companies-Who-Force-YouTube-to-Disable-Embedding-of-Certain-Music-Videos Week...and we're ending it with one of my favorite bands: Uncle Tupelo. Enjoy!

The Rentals - Friends of P (Live)

Post-a-Live-Video-to-Compensate-for-Stupid-Major-Label-Record-Companies-Who-Force-YouTube-to-Disable-Embedding-of-Certain-Music-Videos Week rages on...

My first trip to NYC was in the fall of 1995 for the CMJ Music Conference. My friends and I somehow befriended the Maverick Records rep and ended up helping her distribute a couple cases of cassette singles for the label's new band: The Rentals. Here's a live performance of that single on French TV...and YES, that is a young Maya Rudolph singing and playing keys. Enjoy!

Moonpools & Caterpillars - Soon (live)

Continuing with our Post-a-Live-Video-to-Compensate-for-Stupid-Major-Label-Record-Companies-Who-Force-YouTube-to-Disable-Embedding-of-Certain-Music-Videos Week...Or as I like to call it PALVTCFSMLRCWFYTDEOCMV Week. Catchy ain't it?

I've been wanting to post the "Hear" video by Moonpools and Caterpillars for a while now. But, as this week's theme dictates, the video has the "embedding disabled by request." So I went to find a live clip of the song. No dice. Couldn't find one (life is hard). Anyway, here's a live version of another song off of their Lucky Dumpling cd. And if you get a chance, check out the video for "Hear" on YouTube. Enjoy!

Wilco - Outtasite (Outta Mind) (LIVE)

OK, since I've been doing this silly blog I tried to only present the "official" videos for the bands covered. Well, one of those big major labels (name withheld) doesn't allow their videos to be embedded. Sometimes I get lucky and find a version that works (even if the quality is compromised). Most times, I end up skipping the band. The problem is that there are a ton of great bands that we're missing out on. So maybe this week I'll feature them.

With that said, Wilco has a new album out today. I'm going to admit, their last few albums have left me mostly unsatisfied. I guess I just prefer the country/roots sounds found on their first three records. Of course I have all their records (including the new one)...loyalty has its price I suppose. I'm sure I'll like it enough, but not nearly as much as AM, Being There and Summerteeth. Here's a live classic off Being There. Enjoy!

Supreme Love Gods - Alive

I actually saw the Supreme Love Gods twice in 1992. They opened for both 808 State and Ned's Atomic Dustbin (talk about two completely different bands). Anyway, they did that trippy alt thing well enough. Here's a track off of their debut. Enjoy!

Alanis Morissette - You Learn & Head Over Feet

Couldn't figure out which Alanis Morissette video to post off her classic Jagged Little Pill, so I went with two (nothing wrong with that considering she once played God). Enjoy!

The Jayhawks - Waiting for the Sun

Well, well, well, The Jayhawks have released their first record in eight years today. You know I bought it! Here's a Forgotten Favorite off of their Hollywood Town Hall cd. Enjoy!

Gin Blossoms - Found Out About You

Tomorrow is the HFStival. Haven't been to one of these in about 12 years (maybe longer). The line-up looks pretty good. Avett Brothers, Clutch, Minus the Bear, Diane Birch and Flogging Molly, among others. As usual, there are a couple nostalgia acts. One being local "heroes" Jimmy's Chicken Shack (who we've previously covered), and the other is the Gin Blossoms. So, to celebrate, here's one of their songs not named "Hey Jealousy." Enjoy!

The Cure - Wrong Number

Wow. It's not easy finding an embeddable Cure video from the 90s. I finally found this truly forgotten favorite off of their Galore singles album. Enjoy!

Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song

When I first heard Stone Temple Pilots I was far from impressed. I kind of thought they were a bad Pearl Jam rip-off. It didn't take me long to completely change my mind about them though, and over the years I've seen them live quite a few times. Hell, I actually saw them less than two weeks ago (see photos below the video). Today's song always steals the show for me. Enjoy!

Cowboy Junkies - A Horse in the Country

So we go from the thundering Rammstein, to the soulful and rootsy Cowboy Junkies. That's how I roll. Anyway, here's a track off their Black Eyed Man cd. Enjoy!

Rammstein - Du Hast

Well if this doesn't get you going on a Monday, nothing will. Here's German industrial metal heroes Rammstein. Enjoy!

That Dog - He's Kissing Christian

Happy Friday everybody. I haven't heard this one in a while, so join me in getting down with That Dog. Enjoy!

Bis - This is Fake D.I.Y.

Another rainy day. Might as well play some Scottish indie pop. Here's Bis. Enjoy!

Imperial Teen - Yoo Hoo

Well, well, well...another return after some time off (at least this time I was having fun, as opposed to the previous week's power outage). Anyway, let's get things going with some indie pop goodness. Here's Imperial Teen (featuring Roddy Bottum of Faith No More). Enjoy!

Green Apple Quick Step - Kid

Ahh, it's good to be back and among those with electricity. Anyway, here's a forgotten track by Seattle rockers Green Apple Quick Step. Enjoy!
