Suzanne Vega - Solitude Standing

It doesn't seem possible but Suzanne Vega's Solitude Standing turned 25 this week. So to celebrate 25 years of one of my favorite records I'm going to break from the 2000 theme and post a live video from this classic.

Over the last 11 years my wife and I have had the good fortune of seeing her perform a number of times as well as meet with her after the show (see: above photo). It's always a fantastic performance whether she's by herself, accompanied by her trusty bassist Mike Visceglia, or a full-on band. So happy 25 years of Solitude Standing. I hope to toast the occasion when I see her perform again next month at the Ram's Head On Stage. Enjoy!

  1. I, too, enjoy this album, from Tom's Diner right through to Tom's Diner (Reprise).

Her first album is arguably better, but this is one case where both are excellent.
