Oh my. I'm freaking in love with Marie Miller's You're Not Alone. I saw the video a couple weeks ago and made a mental note to check out more of her tunes. But when you make a million mental notes a day, many are sure to fall through the cracks. Thankfully, I happened upon the video again this morning on CMT Pure and knew I had to share it with y'all here at Your New Favorite Song. It's all about spreading the word. Right? The moment when the chorus kicks in is freaking magic...it kind of reminds me of the first time I heard Amy Macdonald's first album. Check it out!

Sarah Darling - Home To Me
I'm off to Nashville this weekend for some shenanigans (of which I suspect will involve lots of good beer and of course great live local music), while my wife runs in the Country Music Marathon on Saturday. The only set in stone plans that we have so far (beyond her race) is the post-marathon concert with Craig Morgan and the lovely Sarah Darling. Here's the video for her latest single.

Holly Williams - Drinkin'
Holly Williams' latest album The Highway has easily been one of my most listened to records of 2013 (so far). Here's the video for the album's stunning first single.
And yes, she is the granddaughter of Hank Sr., and daughter of Hank Jr.

Paramore - Still Into You
I was going to hold off on posting anything from the latest Paramore record until I actually heard the whole thing, but, if things keep progressing the way they are I wouldn't have gotten to it until at least June (I've fallen way behind with new releases this year). SO, here's the video for the first single off the their fourth record. Sure sounds good to me, hope the rest is just as fine. I'm sure it will be.

Lori McKenna - Make Every Word Hurt
Make Every Word Hurt has been one of my favorite Lori McKenna songs since I heard her playing it live a few years ago. The song simply blew me away that day and it still does today. I was kind of surprised when it didn't appear on 2011's Lorraine (fortunately, the record was so good that I didn't mind the "omission"). Lori's 7th album Massachusetts comes out tomorrow and to my delight I see Make Every Word Hurt is on it. As if I wasn't already excited enough to hear new music from one of my favorite singer/songwriters.

Blur - There's No Other Way
It's time for another Friday Flashback. I'm probably not alone here when I say that There's No Other Way was the first Blur song that I ever heard. It has such a killer grove and will always be my favorite song by them. What? Did you think I was going to say Song 2. WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO! Have a groovy weekend.

Crystal Bowersox - Dead Weight
Here's the first video from soulful folk-rocker Crystal Bowersox's recently released second album All That For This. While I haven't had a chance to pick it up yet (shame on me), I will, as I was a big fan of her post-American Idol debut -- Farmer's Daughter.

Dawes - From A Window Seat
I actually saw today's video this weekend on CMT Pure. It was one of their "edge" videos which means...well, I have no idea actually. I'd say it was for alt-country or Americana music, but I swore I saw Jana Kramer's fantastic (yet hardly alt or Americana-esque) Whiskey video with the "edge" label on it too. So, yeah...back to that no idea thought. Anyway, From A Window Seat is the first single from Dawes' recently released third album Stories Don't End. Check it out.

Iron & Wine - Joy
Indie folk outfit Iron & Wine (Sam Beam) released their/his fifth studio album Ghost on Ghost today. All I've heard so far is this first single, but I suspect it will be more of the same great late-night sitting on the back deck chillin' with some drinks music.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Sacrilege
Yeah! The new Yeah Yeah Yeahs record Mosquito comes out tomorrow. It's their first album in four years which is far too long to go without hearing Karen O's killer howl.

Shudder To Think - Hit Liquor
Time for another new (likely short-lived) feature here at Your New Favorite Song. Back when I started doing this blog three years ago, the site was called Your Forgotten Favorite (hence the URL) and I covered 90s alternative/punk/hardcore/metal videos. After a year and a half I moved on to the 00s (which went over like a fart in church). Now of course, we're on to new music which seems to be working out quite nicely. BUT, it's still fun to look back. Hence FLASHBACK FRIDAYS.
I was reminded about how much I loved Shudder To Think yesterday by the good folks at Dig Me Out (If you haven't checked them out you should...Great 90s alternative podcast that I don't listen to nearly enough as I should). Anyway, I used to play today's song all the time on my old college radio show (and then years later at a little punk bar I used to DJ at in DC). Over the ensuing years I somehow forgot about how great they were...Shame on me.

Maggie Rose - I Ain't Your Mama
I saw today's video for the first time on the CMT Countdown sometime late last year and was immediately drawn to it's bluesy country groove...and of course Maggie's smoking hot voice. Of course I downloaded the single and impatiently waited for her album to come out. About a month ago, I pre-ordered Cut To Impress (with some special signed goodies for my wall of fame). The week it was released I practically accosted the postman every day while waiting for the package to arrive. And I waited. And waited some more. Two weeks later I was starting to get worried that something was wrong. Then I got a message from the distribution site. Some dumbass (me) screwed up the zip code and the package was returned to sender (kind of lazy on the USPS since the town I live in isn't that big and there are only a few zip codes). Thankfully the package was resent and arrived last week. Happy to say the disc sounds awesome (one of my favorites this year) and the signed 7" and CD look great framed and on my wall.

OMD - Metroland
So OMD has a new album out. Interesting. I honestly had no idea they were still playing. Looks like they got back together in the last few years after a kind of hiatus in the mid 90s (the last album of theirs that I remember hearing was 1993's Liberator, but it looks like they released another one in 1996). Here's the first single off English Electric. It sure sounds like the OMD of old.

Brad Paisley - Southern Comfort Zone
Another week, and another big country release. Guitar slinger Brad Paisley's tenth studio album Wheelhouse came out today. While the record is getting some negative press over one unfortunate duet with LL Cool J (to be honest, the lyrics don't bother me nearly as much as the out of place rap), I'm fairly certain that Wheelhouse is going to be one of those summer BBQ go-to albums. Here's the fun video for the first single Southern Comfort Zone.

Caitlin Rose - Only A Clown
I'm so far behind in catching up with new releases this year. One record that I'm really looking forward to checking out is The Stand-In by Nashville singer/songwriter Caitlin Rose. I really dug her last record Own Side Now and judging by this first single, I think I'm going to be all over the new one.

Pissed Jeans - Bathroom Laughter
I've been debating whether or not to post this Pissed Jeans video from their latest record Honeys. Yes, the song (and the entire album) is a serious kick in the throat. I'm talking total late 80s/early 90s Touch and Go style punk rock. BUT, this video is certainly not for the squeamish (although by the end of it, the calamities become almost comical). You have been warned.

Son Volt - Hearts and Minds
Son Volt released their 7th studio album Honky Tonk last month. If even half of the record sounds as good as this first single (and from what I'm hearing the record is tremendous), I'm going to be a very happy dude when I finally get it.

Rilo Kiley - Let Me Back In
Even though it's just a b-sides and rarities record, I'm certainly looking forward to hearing RKives by Rilo Kiley. They were THE soundtrack to my late 20s/early 30s. While Blake and Jenny have released some spectacular albums on their own, they're output together is simply magical.
Fun fact: today's song used to be called I Love LA on their old concert bootlegs.

The Band Perry - Better Dig Two
I've been a fan of The Band Perry ever since I saw them play an in-store at my local Best Buy the day their first record came out. On that afternoon they played Hip To My Heart and If I Die Young and then signed copies of their CD (mine is of course framed and hanging in my basement bar). Over the next two years I was genuinely happy to see them go from country newcomers to huge stars. Their new record Pioneer comes out tomorrow. Judging from the first two singles -- Done (their latest) and Better Dig Two (today's video) -- it's likely going to be another hit.
